i have a z10 from verzion stl100-4 unlocked . i can see only network mode but not network technology . please help me on how to enable the option

It's carrier dependant, mostly. There isn't really something you can do.

Also, it's just the same under different names, in case you were not aware.

Nope!
GSM is voice and text only(no data) , UMTS / HSPA is 3G data.
EDGE is 2G with slow data..
GPRS is even slower data and your voice calls will sound bad...
