Going by past Blackberry OS update patterns

How many updates do you think will have happened prior to the Q10 release?

Maybe 1 minor update, and 1 intermediate update before Q10. I don't think we'll see BB 10.1 by April though. Think about Android and iOS. They only do 1 major revision per year (4.1/4.2 don't count - both Jellybean). So, I think we'll see 10.0.1 by mid March, and 10.0.2 by April. By January next year, I would expect 10.1.

Obviously, this is assuming that major revision updates are 0.1 in order to keep "BB10" kind of like Mac OS X is 10.1, 10.2...and even today, it's 10.8. I could be wrong on that, but my point remains that a truly major OS update will probably not happen until December 2013/January 2014.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the SDK's are version 10.1. I'm sure there's going to be a correlating update for BB10 phones.

From these forums and reviews out on the web I am gathering a list of 'I really hope they fix that' tweaks before I make the return to BB from iOS.

Update reports are going make for very interesting reading!

I would expect one update at most prior to 10.1 and the q10 and it will be almost entirely carrier-reported issues rather than tweaks or new features.

The Q10 will surely not launch until OS 10.1 is ready. As a developer you can see that the https://developer.blackberry.com/ developer website is now showing the 10.1 Beta for developers. It's my understanding from attending BlackBerry Jam Europe that they have tweaked various UI controls to fit on the smaller Q10 screen and therefore it will be required to use the 10.1 SDK to make Q10 applications look great.
Finally in one of the sessions we were told that the final features for OS 10 were actually 'finalised' at the end of October. OS 10.1 clearly was being prepared well before the phones were available to purchase here in the UK. I expect that 10.1 will drop with the launch of the Q10, but there may be 10.0.X releases until this point.
