Now that BIS has gone with BB10 I was thinking of moving from my 9900 to an iPhone 5 (because my upgrade is due)
Then I found out that Google turned on ActiveSync so that I'd be able to get instant E-mail notification on an iPhone.
I then found out that they disabled it at the end of January so I would have to wait a minimum of 15 minutes for my E-Mails to come through.

With the loss of BIS & ActivSync (I don't want to pay $5 a month for a Google Apps Account (which enables ActivSync))
Am I right in thinking that even with BB10, I can no longer get instant E-mail notification? And with either BB10 or iOS, I would have to wait 15 minutes for my e-mail?

Wrong, emails are still instant as Gmail also supports imap idle. You don't need activesync so have instant emails.

Same here. Often quicker than they pop up in my browser on my PC.

I'm currently using an iPhone 5 - I just sent myself an email from a 3rd party account to my little used Gmail account and it wasn't push (instant) delivery. I do not have IMAP settings configured.

IPhone also supports pushed emails, but only with an app called Gmail. Every time you receive an email, you will receive notification on your phone. Then you have 2 choices. You either open Gmail app, which is basically Web Gmail, or you open your mail app, which syncs right after opening and you read it there.

My emails (Gmail, live, yahoo and office email) come fast. Especially gmail with IMAP enable seem to reach my Z10 instantly

On my Z10 with default settings (providing address and password only) both gmail and hotmail (live.ca) are instant when sending from another account.

Mine is still on dumb Verizon 9.422 something. I have a few issues with some apps not being completely functional. They were and after several retries on update for os are not. All my email accounts are pushing instantly. Seconds really. !

Gmail is not instant on Iphone. Only exchange as far I know. Email using multiple Gmail accounts on my Z10 comes instant.
