I agree with this. As long as the OS is smooth and there is no stutter or lag people do not care if they have the most bleeding edge specs. Look at the iphone and wp7 and how it operates so smooth with single core. If RIM could get this type of smoothness that is what people are looking for.

I don't think it's a fair comparison. This phone is not gonna be released with a plastic screen, tired OS with no compelling apps.
As luck would have it few people outside of rim, I'm sure even some inside of rim, new about these attempts at an all touchscreen phone. So I don't think their track record will hurt them. Lol - 04-29-2012, 07:29 PM #31
Everyone seems to want the fastest processor But I think they should settle for a older chipset that has better battery life. The newer chips are fast but when you cant make it 24hours without a charge it just wont cut it. Few years ago when you got a new chipset it also got better battery life but that just dont seem to be happening anymore. I think the proc in the playbook holds it own. So a small bump in proc speed is all we need.
Dear RIM,
Sigh..... /shakes head.....Sigh - 04-29-2012, 07:47 PM #32

I totally disagree. With phones these days 99% of the consumers care about the user experience and what the phone can do for them (apps etc). The iPhone is the top selling phone, have you ever heard anyone say "I bought the iPhone because its got this processor in it that I had to have"???? Heck no. The iPhone sells well because its good looking and it has a wonderful user experience.

If anyone desires a larger screen they should get a tablet. A cellphone should be small, compact, easy to carry, and used mainly for calls and texting. Who needs a phone the size of a tablet? The blackberry should try to maintain its distinction by not looking like every other smartphone out there.

i'm not sure about the design issue but i am more concerned about the difference in how email and messaging will be handled under the new OS BB10. Will it be like the playbook or something different since it will be a phone with what we assume a 4G radio. How about the Bridge feature. i am real Concerned about these things more than the actual form factor.

i like the look of The Alpha. what caught my attention was the fact that it says "16GB" on the bottom of if like hte PB does. is this a hint that RIM is going to make multiple sizes for their BB10 phones like they did with the PBs???

I would suspect it is just in sticking with the PlayBook theme,
when they create the actual production device I suspect it will be a single size, with MicroSD, something this dev unit seems to be lacking,
What the missing MicroSD card makes me fear is that RIM still wont allow apps to run off of the SD card,oops...
