My first day using new OS update has shown phenomenal battery life. Pretty light day with a few phone calls, some photos, several hot spot uses (to support iPad) and after 10 hours off charger still have 74% battery life...according to monitor enough for over 2 days!
    Unreal.

2141 was good in battery. 2228 doesn't seem quite as good but I'll give it time to be sure.

Did you guys mean OS 10.2.1.2228 aka Software Release 10.2.1.2156? It seems you both got it wrong.

My bad, for some reason I thought he meant OS 2141, the prior software release. It was better for my battery than the current OS, 2228. Post updated to reflect that.

I'm hesitant to switch to. 2228 with the current leak I'm on the battery life is awesome. Off the charger for 6 hours and one hour of LTE netflix at 60-70% brightness and I'm at 80% with the Z10

My OS 10.2.1.2228 battery life in my second full day of use after 8 hours is setting at 78% remaining but I've had a lower than normal usage day. That said, with 10.1.xxxx I would be at around 50% remaining after 8 hours off charger with low usage.

Many people have reported, and I have also found this to be true:
For about 24 hours after any update, your battery might run hotter and drain more quickly than you're used to. This will stabilise on its own, and after about a day or 2, on this latest update anyway, it will run cooler and last longer than it did before the update. But give it time, the battery can take a full 24+ hours to settle into regular behaviour again.

Given the tracking I'm doing for the changelog post on this release, I would say with pretty high confidence that I cannot remember a new OS in months that had such overwhelmingly positive reports in terms of battery-life improvements.

LOTS of people reporting improved battery life with this release, including my own experience with my own device that I've installed it on. See link below.

Or perhaps lots of people have battery calibration bug? I have to recalibrate batttery every few days so I can have correct readings... If I dont recalibrate, I have some unrealistic battery levels.

I've learned not to trust the estimated time remaining that the Device monitor says you have. It's based on the activity you had over the last few hours. So if you weren't using the phone much, it might say 46% and 2 days left. But if you were recently very active with phone calls, websurfing, watching videos, etc, it might say 46% and 5 hours left. The remaining battery 46% is more accurate than its prediction of remaining time, which you can control by the way you use your phone..

I get 2 half hours if I am lucky...always been that way since I first got the phone. I can take it off the charger, not use it what so ever and after a full hour I am down 20%

You need to wipe it and reload the OS (use an Autoloader for ease) and if that doesn't solve this issue return it (if you can) because it's defective.

I guess I will give that a go..its over a year I tried a few weeks to get the battery replaced but its not covered I can always just break it and have Verizon send me a new one.

Lucky you. For us , lesser mortals, who buy the phone SIM free and full price etc, that is not an option.

11 hours in on my first full day of update and battery is holding up well at 56%. Might even run it overnight off charger just to see how long the battery will stretch. I'll miss my night clock though lol

    Descriptions from the thread:
"But...eight hours of regular email usage, a pic here and there, a browsing session and some light BBM/texting..."

and after someone mentioned BBM being a drain, "My BBM session was indeed just around 3:30pm (or so) yesterday, so that jives with what you are experiencing. Traded a few pictures and edited one of them. The drain shows."

I don't use The Facebook, don't use The Twitter, etc. Just BBM, What's App, Mail and Texts. I'm tracking my battery usage today...(again, mostly light usage, but that's how I use my phone. I surf on a computer with something called a keyboard and a pointing device =).

The shot above I couldn't continue to track through today because I plugged it in last night (that reset the clock). I won't go all the way to zero, but will keep snapping periodically to gauge rate of battery drain.

More directly, I actually didn't make or receive a phone call during this time....(do people even do that anymore?)

I'm just laughing at my iPhone 4S.

Yesterday evening I took it off the charger at 11pm (German time) with 100% Battery. I put on Airplane mode and went to sleep. After waking up at 8am today: 91% Battery. Despite airplane mode and I've been sleeping. No apps were running in the background.

I started to use it normally and needed to charge it at about 3pm. (took it off with 100% at 4:45) Now at 00:15 I'm in bed with my laptop and the phone is on the charger again. (All German times)

When I see your Device Monitor i even more cant wait for my Z30 to arrive in April.I need a Device with a nice Battery, and the Z30 seems to be one who can provide that.
Also I hope T-Mobile Germany will roll out that update too already.

If you have a media card in the phone, files will be safe (transferred to) there. Otherwise yes, you should copy them to another location.
