Thanks to Crackberry, I have always the most updated OS on my Z10. If I discover that I prefer the previous one I had or even a different one that has a lower OS number, BB link doesn't allow to restore. I understand that it should prompt saying that you are going to "downgrade" your OS but really I don't see any reason to preclude this possibility. Specifically, having downloaded 10. 2.1.200 and backed up, I can't download 10.2.0. 1761 (which is newer but with a "lower" number) and restore my data.
Is it on purpose? If yes why? I hope this can be changed quickly.

A PITA I agree, but nothing too tricky to resolve:

Well, considering that 10.2 isn't official, you can't really blame link on this one.

I suggest using an autoloader. Should be easy enough from there.

Sachesi can also restore a Link backup to an earlier OS version. http://forums.crackberry.com/bb10-le...taller-825409/
So far, I've used it to help a friend restore from 10.2.0.1743 to 10.2.0.1443, and another from 10.2.0.1371 to 10.1.0.4633. (There were a couple of quirks with a couple of settings with this one, but the imortant stuff came through OK.),

Thanks for your suggestions.Do you believe Rim is doing it on purpose? What can be the reason?

Yes, I do believe its intentional -- but not with any nefarious motives.

As the OS moves on to newer versions, changes in some code modules are made that makes them incompatible with earlier versions of the OS. As I noted above, where we restored from a 10.2 to a 10.1 OS, my friend had some settings messed up. Nothing that couldn't be re-adjusted, but an annoyance. And, we only restored "Settings". I imagine we would have seen more issues restoring "Apps & Data" as well.

I don't have problems to download any OS, but I don't know how to restore my back up that was on a "higher number" OS compared to what I have now,
Presently I have a Z10 with OS 10.2.1.200. I will receive a new Z30 tomorrow with a 10.2.0.xxx and I think BB Link will not allow me to restore my last Z10 back up. I can easily restore back up made a couple of months ago but I would loose all data recently added

There are two working solutions for you, already posted above.

I succeeded in the past but unfortunately I can't do it downgrading from 10.2.1.200 and I don't know why.
