nope, does not bother me at all...as for me a text from my clients are as important as text from my boss and as important as my wife's text. so I don't think I need different tones for each and everyone.

just attempted this and it does not affect individual text sounds SMS.

I don't understand why they had to call it "Messages", as it is confusing. Why not call it emails.
What makes even less sense is when you go into the notifications settings and there is about any app on your phone that you can customize, EXCEPT SMS Text! What is so freakin' hard about this? Every dumb phone can do this...

Not sure if this is on any of the other leaks, but the OS 10.2 that I'm using has custom alerts for BBM. I'm sure sms/mms is not too far behind.

10.2 leaks/dev builds don't have SMS tones either. It should be extremely easy to implement as 3rd party apps can already do it.

I have tweeted this question a couple of times to Blackberry and BlackberrySupport and they have never answered. Usually they are pretty good about answering questions about features, etc.

My 9700 had this. As many have mentioned, everyone I know who has a phone can do it. Unless they have a BB10 device.

I've looked for this in every update and leak, to find that it is still absent. I don't understand why. I've also tweeted to the BlackBerry folks and they've never replied. Almost as bad is that the bb10 stuff won't read old-school midi files/ringtones which I can't understand either.

You are not alone. Not being able to have custom SMS for each contacts is wasting my time. I am not impressed as this feature is like lips and ash holes on any other phone. They all can do it BUT Z10. I miss my torch like mad. This is outrageous. I'm LIVID. Someone please say when this will be updated and the answer I hope for is "yesterday." Geez you guys.

Well, after a long search in bb app world. I found several apps for these but only one is "headless". It's called: "hub plus plus". You can assign ring tones and led notifications to texting, your email accounts, fb, your email contacts and so on.

Right now, I just need to listen or see the led notification to know who is contacting me without needing to see the phone screen.
