So, when you receive a text from someone.. you select their number, and add their phone number to your contacts. You think live is good.

Until, you open one of your Gmail accounts in search of that contact. It's not there. Is Contact syncing turned on? You betcha. You check another Gmail account that has contact syncing as well and there it is.

So, wtf? Why does BB10 decide by itself on where to add the contacts? In fact, where DOES it add the contact? To the phone first, and then start syncing it wherever it feels like? I have a Google Apps email account that is for work, and another Google Apps email account that's my own. I add my personal contacts to the latter, and want to sync my work email to my phone and not upload to the work account. Next thing I know, I got all my contacts jumbled all over the place!

Contacts are an abysmal failure of implementation in BB10. There is no other answer.

Never had a problem with all the account that I have on my BB10 devices. That includes my Gmail contact sync. It would be helpful if you gave the version of the OS that you are having problems with. If you are with a US carrier, and it is an older version of the OS or it is a leak version that isn't released yet, then that could be the issue. I have OS 10.2.0.1803

I have a real problem with people saying that something is defective and they don't take the time to say what version they have. It could no longer a problem, so you are complaining about something that doesn't exist anymore.

I'm not sure what you are saying. You click on the number, hot the add to contacts icon, select the contact and save. Are you saying that after you do this, it's not in the contacts info?

No problems on my end. 10.2

What OP is saying is that the newly added contact synced to the improper Gmail account (both of which have contact sync enabled). Unknown resolution as this entails an understanding of how sync priority is established. The default account option may serve as workaround, then again it may not.

    Thank you.
Versions have nothing to do with this as it is not a bug. It's a failure on the feature side.

Took some time to look into this. The feature you desire does exist in 10.2.1.1055 (and possibly lower OS versions) as I am able to choose to which account a new contact should be synced to. Simply uncheck the box(es) next to account(s) in which syncing is not desired. Local Contacts and SIM are also present as additional choices.

I've been playing now you see them, now you don't with my contacts since Z10 launch in February. I keep thinking it's going to be fixed in the next leak, but still flaky on Z10STL100-3/10.2.1.1055. I'm BES10 activated, and it's still unstable. Shameful, really.

I've never had any issues really with contacts. The only thing for me is the photo I choose for a few contacts will not stay. It keeps reverting to a blue background with a white sideways G on it. I've tried deleting that photo from the linked photo options for each contact to no avail.

One of my few annoyances with BB10 is the contacts. Only because I had to set up a Q10 for a guy with 250 phone contacts and a whole slew of email contacts. He probably had like 500 separate names. Oh man. The duplicates! I backed that up for him after I was done. I don't ever want to deal with that again. Luckily on my phone of a measly 214 contacts once it was all set up I never had a problem again. So I got that going for me. Which is nice.

It was pretty bad but the funniest issue was with my girlfriends aunt who inadvertently set the contacts to show sim contacts only but to add new contacts to phone on her Samsung something-or-other (Android). When I had found the mistake and turned it back on I found multiples of contacts she kept adding over and over again wondering why she could never find it again. That was horrible but doesn't happen regularly. I'm talking like 6 or 7 instances of every contact. As for BB10, there aren't too many people that haven't found an issue with contacts. Especially linking emails to phone numbers to facebook accounts to whatever else. It's a mess until you sort through the whole thing.

Ugh. Yes. I've had terrible experiences with contacts as well. The worst part is its bad behavior is entirely inconsistent so I can't even troubleshoot.

A few times I'll add a new contact via phone number from the call log or text, and the contacts app will ignore the new contact created and add the number to an existing contact. Wtf? So when the new contact messages me again, i think it's from a random other person. Took forever to figure out.

This is a great start, but then you see that you have triplicate contacts in your list with the same name and number. Wtf

Yeah the contacts app has been a joke since the beginning. I heard they were planning on rewriting the whole app from the N4BB guys but won't hold my breath. Hopefully it's fixed sooner than later because right now it's a bloody mess.

I'm gonna +1 this thread. What a mess indeed. Q10 running .1055. If I add facebook, twitter, linked in accounts it completely fubars the contacts even if they are toggled off in settings. I use active sync - I'm sorry this dog don't hunt. Fix it. Someone.

My problem is when I add Facebook and Twitter contacts...the slightest difference makes it a separate contact. Even when I edit, it seems to override my edits and cause problems.

Every restart seems to unlink my contacts so I end up with a bunch of duplicates. I've given up trying to organize it. Not sure how BlackBerry messed this up so badly...

I had issues with contacts duplicating (for #BAL and the other Verizon stuff, it would show up as many as 4 times) and then just messing up after I'd get them fixed. I finally traced it back to how the Z10 was syncing with Link and with e-mail; in both instances, the other entity had priority over what was loaded on the phone. Once I re-set that so the Z10 took priority, I corrected contacts in the phone (took a while) and then re-synced. Since then, I haven't had any problems.
