I love how RIM is designing BB10 phones to work with or without buttons. Especially the ability to unlock (wake) the phone without a button, as you won't have to worry about button wear. I've yet to see any mention of whether you can actually lock without the buttons though.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

There is a lock button on the top of the phone, similar to the 9900.

Yeah. The power button is still a physical button which will turn on/of the screen (I belief you can set the timeout for locking to be different than just the screen off timer).

If the demos at BBJam are correct, you'll also be able to swipe down from the top bezel all the way down to the bottom and put it in standby as well.

Ah, this is the sort of thing I was hoping for. I hadn't heard/seen anything about this myself. A full down swipe sounds great.

I was under the impression that swiping down on the lock screen activates bedside mode...

I doubt I missed this, but has anyone else wondered how password/pattern lock will work with BB10?

If I swipe around will I still be able to preview my locked screen before I'm asked to enter my password to unlock my phone? Will RIM use their pressure-sensitive unlocking mechanism for early BB10 phones?

On the Dev Alpha (10.0.9), swiping up to wake displays the lock/info screen. Swiping up more displays the password screen underneath. So, if you have messages, or upcoming appointments, they show up under the clock (with notification icons to the side) before you see the password screen. Everything else is not viewable.
