I love my Z30 but I hate the fact that it has to buffer nearly half the video before starts playing it.

Even after it buffers, don't even think about rewinding a second or two, it will erase the buffer and starts buffering again. Why does it do this while another android or iPhone on same network same speed starts playing almost immediately.

It's not just YouTube either, it's also videos in browser, etc..

I am on latest "official" leak (tmo release on att) phone from Claro, not from carrier.

Both, I think. Is there any way to test both? Anything in browser, any video, including YouTube. Why does it do that?

This annoys me too. I never understood why it has to do this, when BlackBerry has the best/fastest browser. Also theres no options to change the resolution for videos. Stupid

Right? I hate that! Everything else, I can trump my friends phones with. there isn't a single feature (aside from native apps) that they have that my Q10 doesn't either also have, or just hands down surpasses.

Until we watch a youtube video and need to rewind.

Reeeeeeeaally wrecks it. It's a sudden brick wall.

It's not just rewind, it's also the darn buffer, for a 3 minute video, I sometimes have to wait for it to buffer at least %40 before I can start playing it back.

Can we use a 3rd party browser or player or something to avoid this? It's not just youtube, it does that on vimeo, or random video sites.

If it takes that long to buffer the video then it would suggest that it would keep stopping if it didn't buffer so much, which would probably annoy you even more.

Surely that's a bandwidth issue rather than a browser issue.

No, not really. It still buffers a bit before playing. Not as long, but still not as instant as others.

No, it's not a bandwidth issue. Read my post again, maybe you missed something.

Bb10 video player is lousy as it can't even save streamed video while streaming video. Every time I want to rewind(go back) back to certain part of video or fast forward , it will need to buffer again. Always happen even when I didn't fast forward past the buffer.

If I use website video player rather than default player, then I can rewind or fast forward as much as i like as long as it didn't past the the preloaded video(buffer)

It's the video player issue, not youtube. My nokia 808 video player does better than bb10 video player.

I think that's the issue, so instead of playing them back using whatever the format they are in, everything gets ported into the built in video player. Wasn't there a big issue where BB broadcasted on BBM people watching porn on their phones because the videos were playing back in stock media player.

Any video on any website gets played in BB Media Player, not in a flash player or something like what you would see on your PC. So think about every single video, including youtube, vimeo, porn sites, all that stuff being opened in Windows Media Player. That's pretty much how it is with BB. So when people allowed BBM to tell others what song you are listening to, instead of telling them the song (since you would be watching a porn video) it told people Taxxmy is listening to " Hairy Peter and the Sorcerer's Bone".
    We are getting off topic..

Not all website use BlackBerry default player. I know one website that use it's own player. Even on full screen it still use it's own player.

Can you check of that website also has buffer problem, or let us know which site so we can try as well. If you prefer, you can PM me.

As the site use it's own player to play video rather than device player, so there is no buffer issue. I can go back or go forward without need to buffer again as long as it is within the buffered area. As the site is "dirty" and not suitable for public view, I will PM you the site name later.

Yes that would be great, so we can test it, you know, just for testing purposes, all for science.

Confirmed that the site uses it's own player and no problems with buffer. So this is specifically limited to how BB's internal player handles buffering, which has something wrong with the way it's designed.

Making the buffer indicator useless if you can't use it. Hope it is fix in next otherwise it is pain when streaming video. Anyway hope you enjoy the site :P.
