Browser on BB10 "A game changer"
Right now on Business News Televison in Canada. Chris Eben, from the "Working Group" talking right now about how the BB10 browser will have capabilities beyond any current browser and makes the concept of apps. OBSOLETE. His words not mine. Now he goes on to say he is waiting to see what happens with market acceptance of the devices and operating system before jumping into developing apps. Sees BB10 browser as creating a new reality for web access!! Nice to see more positive news on BB10 continue to stream in.
Native apps versus web based - HTML 5 allows the browser to do this versus the OIS need of "apps"
Nice to hear that this is possible and that BB10 is the first to have this capability!!Thanked by 3:el_excelsior (12-16-2012), Lehomer (12-16-2012), zyben (12-15-2012)

The browser on the latest Dev Alpha is beautiful. Elegant, fast, easy to navigate. People will like it.

My big concern is the html5 score. You can have a great score and have a soso browser. My playbook scored 50pts higher than my macbook pro today. Yet my playbook browser is far inferior than the mbp's browser. The playbook browser checkerboards a lot even after a full page is loaded.
So they keep throwing this score around to impress people but its all in how the browser works rather than the highness of a score.
You can have book smarts but be street dumb.

Yea, @eve6er69 is 100% correct. Playbook browser checkerboards and is slow. Although, the BB10 browser does have a high browser score it is amazing. They got rid of checkerboard as the background base, or at least it seems that way because I never see it. I guarantee you it is an amazing browser, not because of the HTML5 score but because of the rendering speed.

I understand that but if you look at some of the articles I vaguely remember them saying it scored higher than a desktop browser.
I wasn't trying to compare rather trying to say I hope they don't try to use this as a comparison tool in the mobile space.

The BlackBerry 10 browser is the fastest out of all mobile devices on the market. That's a fact, not an opinion. Super-zippy.

I would not read too much into sunspider results, they seem to have a much wider range of possible results on a mobile device over a number of iterations than they do if you run it on your desktop and also the limiting factor tends to be the memory bandwidth of the ARM chip being used too. The main use for such a benchmark is to demonstrate that a device is in the same ballpark as others more than anything more definitive.

It's pretty fast, but the speed has to do with a lot of things. The ui still seems weirdly sluggish at times on the dev alpha a. The rendering of webpages is fine, but there is still some lag in the ui. Obviously I am not on final build so who knows.

LOL.... Mike, always trying to manage expectations. In the end, this doesn't work, because reality will always catch up to people, and will temper their outlook or not.
Why not let the dreamers dream! Who knows, maybe their dreams will come true!

Ps. Still waiting on your report re. That dev alpha sitting in a drawer somewhere at your work! - 12-15-2012, 07:56 PM #22

Meh, I think it's silly to make false claims, especially when theyre grand claims even though there's evidence to the contrary.
I guess I'll never be able to understand the need to over analyze and over glorify something like a cellphone, especially when that praise relies on conjecture or lies about competing platforms.
Anyways, what was it that you wanted me to do with the alpha device? I don't remember what I was supposed to do?Thanked by 2:Bold_until_Hybrid_Comes (12-16-2012), Roo Zilla (12-15-2012)
