Hi everyone,
I'm the proud user of a BlackBerry z30, and there is something that I doesn't understand...
Why don't I get update as soon as they come out on my Carrier/Sim Unlocked phone ? As I didn't get my phone with a contract from my Carrier I shouldn't be dependent of him but of BlackBerry for the updates, don't I ?

Hi, updates are carrier approved which means that if your phone is unlocked, you can have the update immediately by putting a sim in your phone from a carrier that has approved it first. Nobody knows why it has to be this way.

I don't understand why blackberry phones need carrier approval when Android phones doesn't ^^'...
Another question was in my mind lol, is there a way to register our PIN somewhere on BlackBerry website to be a BB10 "Beta Tester" ? , I remember that I did that for my PlayBook...

Yes, I believe so. I'm on the beta zone as are many others. I haven't been asked to test a whole OS though, just certain apps and of course BlackBerry Channels.

OP, BlackBerry is not Android so it not usual for their protocols to be different.

Android updates require carrier approval. Whoever told you they don't gave you misinformation.
