Think about it. Something different in the market. Still BlackBerry 10 but a low end entry level smartphone like the Curve was always the basic cheap entry to BBOS

Because flip phones have ribbon cables in them and after a year of average use the device breaks.

They would be killed in the media and in the market for this. Outside of Japan, the flip phone form factor is all but dead.

BlackBerry already had a flip device called BlackBerry style. It had its glory days. And no wonder it would work well on BlackBerry OS 10.

BlackBerry should bring out a flip phone with a keyboard-blackberry-style-9670-1.jpg

I've got my black 9670 displayed on a charger dock, still works but unfortunately it's locked to OS6 and to Sprint. Hands down the best mobile phone for true hands free phone calls with an ear, cheek, and shoulder...haha!

I still have my Razr V3. It still turns on. I think it is still the best non-smart phone ever. Incredible Bluetooth range.

I always wanted to use the Style. Unfortunately they only had a CDMA variant.
I could honestly say if they made it right, I would buy it. Feel nostalgic!

I could never get the Style phone. I understood that the market was all flip phones and they experimented with it. I'd love to know how many Styles BlackBerry sold.

Flip phones are still big in Japan but BlackBerry are nowhere in Japan.

If they wanted to increase Japanese market share a flip phone just for them would be an option but I don't think trying to make it in Japan is on Chen's list of things to do and nor should it be. It would be a high risk high cost roll of the dice that would probably go wrong given BlackBerry's lack of marketing muscle/talent.

Actually, flip phones had pretty much died off by the time Style came out as everyone was scrambling for all touch phones. All the tech sites were laughing at BlackBerry at the time because of it.

Still, it did have its fans.

At least the Pearl Flip - different from the Style - had a GSM version.

Now update that with a better screen and OS and I would buy that as a back up phone. There is no way better to hang up on a person in anger then to "SNAP" that cover closed.

Flip phones are very 'CSI' but I'd love one, I also would like a modern version of the Nokia communicator, great phone, big screen, big keyboard...

Not even in anger, ending a call with the holster is cool too but just not as satisfying as hearing the sound of the phone close to end a call
