Default BlackBerry Runtime for Android Update in BlackBerry World

Received a headless notification update for BlackBerry Runtime for Android from BlackBerry World today. I didn't open and check for updates, the notification came on its own. That has never with me before, nor have I seen anything like it. Some screenshots attached. I'm on official 10.2 on Airtel India

Release date is months old. Wonder why I didn't get this before? Am I the only one?

Nope, many others have posted that they've noticed this lately as well. Indeed the runtime update was released months ago, but it wasn't really publicized (in my experience, you had to have the link directly to it on the BlackBerry store, you couldn't find it via search).

Odd. Wish someone would explain a bit more. I don't recall people posting about this :/ Perhaps I wasn't active at that time.

I didn't even get a notification for this update. It just appeared in my installed BlackBerry World applications and I didn't install it. Did this happen to anyone else?

In my case the notification didn't come in the Hub. The BlackBerry notfication sign just appeared on the BlackBerry World icon. I did download and install it myself.

It's not a big deal because any update to Android runtime is welcomed but it's strange that it would install itself

It happened to me, as well. BlackBerry obviously has a way to break out apps that are part of the core OS and make them show up in App World without requiring user action...they have also previously done this with Docs To Go, Print To Go and BlackBerry Weather. The only real reason I can see for them to do this is so they can issue updates more frequently, or without being tied to an OS update. I think it's a good thing, especially for U.S. customers whose carriers are months behind with OS updates.

Definitely think this is an awesome way to get certain files updated. Smart move.
