Native apps should be restored. Android apps may be. An occasional app may be missing.

I saw your post late, I would have warned you. Native apps do not get restored. Only their data do and so you need to redownload them from BBW. As for android apps, both apps and data get restored but not everyone is lucky.

When I did a restore after loading up 10.3 the other day, all my native apps came back that were installed from BBW. I did not have to re-download anything.

In Link, there is an option to "Include application executables" when you do a "Custom Backup" and click "Configuation". It's at the bottom of the "Select data..." pop up dialog box that comes next. It is unchecked by default, so if you never went into that dialog, apps wouldn't be included.

The only apps that don't ever get backed up/restored are any sideloaded *.bar apps such as Snap, or any android apps that were converted to bar files from the days before we could do direct apk installs.

Well, the ability to back up the app itself was new to Link a release or two back. So prior to at least last February (when 1.2.3 first came out, but could have been a later build), it didn't back up apps at all - just the settings for them.
