Tap the middle button on the side of your BlackBerry 10 phone and say "How many beans make 5" . Siri doesn't know the answer.

    Well...BlackBerry assistant answered that question

One bean, two beans, a bean and a half, and half a bean.

But BlackBerry assistant is really slow to start and think. She answered this question really fast though.

Also if you say "thank you" she responds with "you're welcome"!

It's just embarrassed because Google is Skynet...

BlackBerry assistant has the best response to "are you skynet".

I haven't used BlackBerry assistant in ages. After reading this thread I gave it a shot. It's actually quicker than it was from mid to late last year. That was one of my issues was the speed at which it responds or completes a task. There's been improvement but probably not much more going to happen in the future.

Well yeah BlackBerry Assistant is extremely slow, by that time you can find what you were looking for, manually.

You know, I turned off full assistance before because of how slow it was, and haven't tried it since. But because of this thread I just turned it back on and gave it a try. They really improved it! How come nothing was said about this??

    • Because BlackBerry is terrible at touting some of their features.
    • Because it was so terrible to begin with, many likely never even went back to try and use it.
    • Because unlike Siri, which was bought then brought in and further developed by Apple, there's nothing 'BlackBerry' about BlackBerry Assistant. It's just tapping into Maluuba, which anyone can do. BlackBerry will never really gain press from it, but the company behind it does.

And you know, there's more to Assistant apps than just having better quippy responses.

Well, wasn't really talking about BB marketing, I know better than to expect that, lol. Meant how come I didn't hear anything about it being improved by other members here until now. :-D

I haven't tested BBA in a while, but last time I checked, it was unable to do one simple thing that I wish it could master:

"Silence (or mute) phone for X hours (or until N o'clock, or whatever)." This would be so handy, but it can't do it.

Neither can OK Google or Cortana. I don't know about Siri.

I believe Cortana does this through "Quiet hours".

I like how you can search ebay, amazon for particular item. That kind of saves time I guess.

BlackBerry Assistant also taps into Wolfram Alpha for answers to tricky questions. This can be quite useful.
