BlackBerry 10 to run android apps?
I read on the internet that
BlackBerry 10 will feature Android apps. What do you think? Could it be true? If it does it would be the best thing that BlackBerry has ever been blessed with (That's my opinion). I've always those hot 3-D android games on a BlackBerry.
And do you think BlackBerry 10 will be released this year?

Given BB10 is based on the Playbook OS then I would expect it would run Android apps that have been converted using the tools provided by RIM.
As to BB10 coming out this year, given RIM's announcement it has been delayed till Q1 2013 then I would expect not. - 07-01-2012, 02:20 PM #3
The Dev Alpha can already run converted Android apps. It would be a pretty safe bet that the full BB10 devices would do the same.

Yeah, just check out CrackBerry Blogs and read up on what the new CEO Thorsten Heins has to say as well as the BlackBerry Jam Conference Event. You can see the Event on YouTube...as well as on this site.

If it is anything like the dev alpha (will be way better) it will run android apps.
Android apps run way better on the dev alpha then they do on android devices. - 07-10-2012, 07:23 AM #6
Everything I have read indicates Android compatibility. It will be interesting to see if RIM allows access to the Android store. I doubt that but I would love to see ICS compatibility and better integration. Excited but still tired of waiting.

They will not allow access to google play.
First of all they are different packages android uses .apk and playbook bb10 use .bar so they would have to have an app that when the user downloads and app from google play it would then re-package it into a .bar, and then it would make piracy a bigger problem.
Second it would take app purchases away from RIM and give them to google, who would what to give money to their competition
