All this "Blackberry 10 OS is dead" stuff is too early to speak of. The company said it would still be updating the OS (unless of course they go bankrupt). Anyone have any news/rumors about the update?

I'm a big fan of Blackberry 10 and I would love for it to thrive in the future.

10.3.3 is scheduled for q1 2016. 10.3.4 has been promised but no timeline was indicated. These releases will security patches and bug fixes only. BB10 is not dead but its in maintenance mode. Don't expect 10.4.

Brand New in 10.4! An Apple runtime that lets you run iTunes on your BlackBerry, as well as a fully native Android 7.0 runtime.

Maybe... there will be un android os update, that will switch the phone to android (for some high specs BlackBerry devices, like passport or classic), which is.. 99.9% impossible.

Bugs fixes and security patches is what BB10 needs now. It doesn't need to have any new features at all. Android keep pushing new features just to promote new things but look at their OS. It is as buggy as hell. Memory leak issue etc is still there.

And one thing I really don't like is that the OS itself is becoming heavier and heavier. It is not an optimized OS like BlackBerry 10 is.

BB10 certainly needs the bug fixes and security patches.
As for being "optimized"... just a CrackBerry platitude.
Standard practice for embedded systems development is for each component to have a memory budget.
When the pressure is on the memory budget often is the first thing to get thrown under the bus.
I would guess that is why TH could not deliver BB10 for the PlayBook.
