Recently upgraded my z10 to a z30 and now I'd like to store the phone and maybe ship overseas. What is the best practice when it comes to the battery. Take it out? charge it up full? forget about it?

    Thanks

Charge or discharge it until 40% capacity and then store it at room temperature 25C. Secure the terminals as to avoid short-circuit.

To store batteries for a longer time I learned to charge it to around 40% and put it in the fridge, with some measures to keep it dry.

I have several batteries in my fridge today.

Personally, in the case of the z10, I would charge it to 60%, turn the device off, but leave the battery in. Check every couple of months and maintain charge around 60%. Irrespective, the battery will eventually (permanently) degrade over time whether you use it or not.

The so-called "calendar life" is negatively influenced by temperature and so a much lower storage temp is the better choice.
    E.g. see:

But googling around a bit will provide more info easily.

Critical is to keep the battery dry so put it in a quality freezing bag, wrapped in some dry tissues or so.

    Thanks everyone!

Now if I'm going to ship it overseas. Charge the battery to around 40%ish and take it out or leave it in the phone?
