Hello, have any of you ever loaned a BB10 phone out to an elderly relative? I did, but the relative in question didn't get on with it. They set up a BlackBerry ID ok, but then lost interest. They've returned it, which is great. As I can now use it again.

EXCEPT......I can't, as I cannot do a security wipe and start using it again, as they've forgotten their BlackBerry ID and password, and the security question and they've said there's no chance they'll ever remember any of that info.

So.... any idea how I can wipe it without getting that info? I'm really stuck, and would be enormously grateful for any help.

    Thank you

Sorry, but without their BlackBerry ID, Password, and the Security question, your relative has returned a paperweight to you.

Thank you for your reply Denise. There is I believe one more attempt allowed to guess his password correctly.
I really hope he gets it right...

Had no idea I couldn't just reset it, but I suppose it makes sense from a security perspective.

    Family!!

Instead of using the last password attempt, can they try harder to remember the security question? By using the computer, I think you do not lose any attempts in the same way entering wrong password does.

I had one of my corporate users setup their recovery question as
    What's my password
And their recovery answer was their BlackBerry Id password which of course they couldn't remember

    Oh was that fun

Another great tip, thank you! We'll try that with him tonight.

Hopefully the passport can be saved!

I laughed too. For some reason, the user did not find my brevity amusing in the least. Stormed out of my office in a huff

Did you try the 'forgot my password' function at the BBID website? They will email you a reset to your bbid which can only be read by another device or from a web mail interface, the reset wont appear in the hub.
