So ok let's say it is, what is the difference with a "real" Q10? Besides the 1GB of RAM?
Don't test units have serial numbers inscribed on them though?

If it's an internal device BlackBerry may give you a production Q10 for the device. I remember they did this for someone who bought a 4G Playbook online before they were released.

Or you may just want to keep it.

Just to get it out of the way... you have completely pulled the battery and started out fresh right?

    Posted via CB10
Yep, remember the steps for qnx:
    Restart
    Battery pull
    Wipe
    Throw at a wall
    Drown it
    Hope you have warranty
    Return it
    Sell it
    Buy different device
    Return
    Repeat

I retract my statement earlier =)).
Do you think it's possible that one of the RAM chip's on his Q10 are defective, thus reporting only 1GB of RAM? I mean either it's deliberate or it's a bit broken. And that the QNX Kernel knows how to manage RAM by limiting the number of apps even without coding it explicitly on OS level.
No. These were designed with only 1GB of RAM.

What are you talking about? All production BlackBerry Q10's have 2GB of RAM. The only Q10's that do not have 2GB of RAM are the pre-production models and the BlackBerry Dev Alpha C's. OP likely has a pre-production model and yes, there is those out there that do not have serial numbers on them.

OP has a few options.. call BlackBerry and have them check the device serial to find out where it came from and if they want it back in exchange for a production model or inquire with the original owner to get a refund on it (likely not going to happen) or finally, suck it up and use it as is.

I never said that they were production models. Just saying that it isn't a RAM failure.

The wth would you say you have an SQN100-3 with 1GB of RAM as designed? That's not even in any way accurate nor does it even mention anything about RAM failure. You said it twice, that they were designed to have 1GB.

No. These were designed with only 1GB of RAM.

They were designed as pre-production models to be used internally for testing at Blackberry. They were designed to have 1GB of RAM the same way that the Dev Alpha's were designed to have 1GB of RAM. They were still designed. This isn't a quirk where the RAM chips failed.

    Happy now?

Pre production models of the Q10 had 1GB of RAM. This is a well known fact and you can search CB for postings about them.

Refund wont happen... I want to try to contact Blackberry but I don't seem to find a number for phone support on their website...
    Contact Us - Canada

Any help would be much appreciated. Last option well will be my last option XD Thanks Bla1ze

This is most interesting. If the phone works with limited number of apps in usage, it must mean BB 10 caches a lot of RAM (which is why normal phones with 2GB seem to always be using over 1GB). More over, it seems Playbook owners might have one more good reason to be mad at Blackberry. Unless of course the slower Cortex-A9 is the reason why Thor said the performance was not satisfactory. Who knows.
