BB10 in color - Why not?
Why not have first BB10 in choice of Black or White in stores? Maybe other colors available on line?
Additional engineering costs -0-. Cheaper than having two models. Would immediately appeal to a wider market of "successful users."
This could have huge impact on marketing, and might be attractive to retailers that have a wider range of customers.
Same idea for PlayBook.

See how the device sells first. After the first (hopefully) successful wave, then introduce colors to entice the next wave of sales.
Why is it that when your contract commitment is up, the phone you always wanted is now old and the phone you now want won't be out until the next quarter?
Curve 8330 4.5.0.131 -> Bold 9650 6.0.0.706 Plus not one but two totally awesome kickin' Playbooks - 05-04-2012, 03:59 PM #3
I think the reason they don't do that is because they can boost sales after the initial launch by adding more colours. Like a few months later, to keep it fresh and in the spotlight.
I agree though I'd like to see a full range of colours, like more than 3 even. - 05-04-2012, 04:16 PM #4
I agree with this although I think if they had more options available at launch that may get more people to buy but usually people will buy it no matter what and not wait for hopes that it comes in another color. I like black because it doesn't show as much wear and tear as white seems to, I mean look at some white iphones were turning a yellowish color. That isn't something you see with black phones.

Consider that if this device is LTE, there will be 4 variants for the USA alone as the networks are not compatible at all, nevermind Canada, Europe & Asia.. so if you want three colors, then thats up to a couple of dozen variants in assembly...for one phone...
think we should be happy with black

And clear plastic would be neat too. So can see the insides.

RIM has bigger fish to fry than colors.

Colors is something to focus on later on.
