Hi,

Anyone have a solution on how to get better battery life on the Z10? Dealing with constant overheating and minimal battery life (doesn't last more than 4 hours). Would purchasing a new battery help?

It's highly unlikely your battery is defective. Purchase battery guru to see what your phone is doing. If it's drawing a lot of power in standby and running you have a soft ware issue. I had this happen after the phone was 6 weeks old. An os reload WITHOUT restore fixed it. I use my phone a lot and do get 12 hours plus. Also search battery drain on here as there are several good threads to help you.

My device only gets hot with NOVA3 intensive video game and that is frankly expected.

You need to reload your operating system with BlackBerry Link. If you do a restore it may not work but back your phone up first regardless. I tried the reload restore but that did not work. The only issue you will have with this is contacts. By not restoring you need a way to recover your contacts. I saved mine to sim but still lost all those that had bbm. Was able to recover most of those from others and only lost a handful.

And for those posters that haven't had this issue - the phones can run hot sitting idle. My phone ran 33-41c in standby and the battery died in 5 hours. Just because your phone doesn't run hot all the time does not mean everyone's is like yours. Try and provide helpful solutions rather then comments. That is the purpose of this board.
