I am looking to buy Z10 but my company has not yet upgraded to the new BES Server and so I understand that my corporate Lotus Notes email will therefore not be available on Z10.

I have read that Lotus Traveler works on the BB Playbook and should work on Z10, but I can't get any confirmation on that from any source.

So, has anyone tried Lotus Traveler on their BB Z10 ?

I do not have access to Lotus Traveler but here's the low down.

According to to this article ( IBM Does IBM Lotus Notes Traveler support the BlackBerry PlayBook? - United States ) in IBM's knowledge base, IBM's official position (as of 2013-01-16) is that IBM does "not" support directly connecting the BlackBerry PlayBook to Lotus Traveler. It appears that integrating a PlayBook (and by extension a BB10 device such as a Z10) *is* supported once your company upgrades to BES 10.

That said, it appears that users and institutions have been able to integrate PlayBooks directly because Lotus Traveler uses Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, which is supported on BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2 and even better supported on BlackBerry 10. Therefore, if you can get Lotus Traveler working on your BlackBerry PlayBook, you should be able to get it to work on your BlackBerry 10 device.

Further, BlackBerry has posted support articles regarding this, so hopefully they are trying to make it work. For instance, you may need to ask your administrator to allow integration for the PlayBook. KB31297-Error Code: 403 "Access should be available soon" when trying to add an Active Sync account to the BlackBerry PlayBook

If you want to check on this without buying a Z10 first, you could try on a BlackBerry PlayBook or by downloading a BlackBerry Dev Alpha or PlayBook simulator at:
BlackBerry - Smartphone Simulators - US

Just managed to get a BB Z10 to connect to Lotus 8.5.3 traveler server.

Steps followed are as follows :

Select Accounts from the setup menu.
    Select, Email, Calendar and Contacts
Select "Advanced Setup" from the Email,Calendar and Contacts screen.
    Select Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync
Enter a Description, leave the domain field blank.
Enter your Lotus Notes user name (First Last).
    Enter your Email Address.
Enter in your Notes or HTTP Password. (they may be the same).
Next enter in the server address. ie traveler.company.com/servlet/traveler
Set the SSL according to your company server.
    Enable Push
Select Continue and then the data you want to sync. (Email, Contacts, Calendar).

It works fine on Traveler 8.5.3.x
It gets a little trickier on the HA Upgrade Pack 2.
IBM will officially support it in Traveler 9.

It appears that BlackBerry intends to support users integrating BlackBerry 10 using Lotus Notes via Traveler 8.5 as opposed to IBM's apparent lack of support at this time. See:

    Hi all,

Got the .BAR from the clever chap over at idonotes.com, but unfortunately our corporate server rejected the client (see screenshot):

Any chance the .BAR could be updated with the latest client version (or will this not come til the Android Player on PB is updated to latest runtime?)

    Tkgafs,
I had to tweak the number of active threads on the Domino http tab to 800.
For some reason, having more didn't let the PlayBooks do the initial sync.
Also, I have applied the latest Hotfix from IBM: 8.5.3 Upgrade Pack 2 (8.5.3.200)
    FIX BUILD LEVEL: 20130215_0827
This seems to help with several issues I was having.

Your Traveler server is running 8.5.3 Upgrade Pack 2.
The BAR is from an older 8.5.3 release. You will need to get the apk off your server and then have it converted/signed.

Traveler still might reject it depending on how policies are set....

Thanks for the clarifications guys. I think i'll go ahead and order a Z10 now.
Meantime, I'll check the version for the traveler apk that we have and try to make a bar. can upload somewhere if anyone needs it.

One more thing: I guess this means that Lotus Traveler will essentially run as an Android App - is it as good as the usual BB Email Clients or are there any drawbacks ?

It seems that encrypted emails do not display on Z10 with Traveler. However, those guys seem to be getting Traveler on Z10 without converting apk to bar - See here.

Can anyone confirm if using the apk>bar method works for showing encrypted emails ?
It works for Android & iOS (after uploading .id file to the traveler server/page)

Getting the email working is easy. But its the calendar that does not seem to be fully functional. You are unable to accept meeting invites. I am trying to get the story staight if its IBM or BB that has dropped the ball on this on.... any one know?

If you use active sync, then it's MS that dropped the ball. Not IBM or BB. For full support I guesse you have to wait for traveler 9

    BlackBerry broke it.
Invites used to work on the PlayBook until one of the later 2.1 OSes. This broken code seems to have made its way to OS10.

They are actively working on it and will be fixed in a 10.1 release is last I heard.

This from BlackBerry regarding calendar invites:

"The Calendar issues you have mentioned are currently being worked on by BlackBerry and by IBM. They have changed how they're handing Calendar items in Traveler 9 beta compared to 8.5.3. This is being tracked as multiple items. (DT 6717952, DT 6445139, DT 6755438)"

Yes IBM even states it's still an issue with the current traveler beta. I'm pretty sure it will get resolved soon though seeing as v9 is supposed to be released very soon.

You're calendar does not work for invites via Traveler unless the fix was included in 10.0.10.99 (it is definitely not working in 10.0.10.85).

Can you confirm if you receive a new invite that you can open it?

I am currently running Traveler 9 final with 10.0.10.85 and calendar invites to not work. BlackBerry has confirmed that a forthcoming device software update (likely to coincide with Q10 release) will fix the calendar issue for Traveler by changing how they interpret the invites. It seems IBM is not following the EAS standard as calendar invites work perfectly fine in my outlook.com account.

So if you deploy Traveler 9, are you required to have a corporate BES or can you do it with simply having a carrier BIS account?

For Lotus Notes, does the "Things to Remember" app on the z10 work like the "Tasks" app on my BB Torch work phone? I'm not getting any real feedback from our IT department and I've read the Lotus Calendar issue has been fixed and working properly in 10.0.10.99. I'm very interested if the "Tasks" app on the z10 also works? If it does, once 10.0.10.99 is released officially I bugging our IT department for my new z10!
