I am absolutely holding out for BB10 on my personal phone.
I still quite happy with my 9930 work phone. Only thing to make it better would have been 4G LTEPersonal - VZW BlackBerry Z10 - 10.0.9.422
Work -VZW iPhone 5 - 6.1.4 - MobileIron
Playbook - 32G

Anything BB10 would be an early upgrade for me. Which, after my experience with OS6, OS7 and PB OS 1, gives me reason to wait till the hardware and software bugs are worked out before I decide what my next upgrade will be.

I bought the 9900 back in September. I'm very glad I did. I'll wait to see what the keyboard looks like on the Bold version of BB 10 before I pick the one I want. I do love OS 7 and my 9900 though. It pairs great with my Playbook.

How do you like it so far? I'm contemplating on purchashing one from Best Buy as well. I wish the device had a better camera, LTE support and a dual-core processor. But it is what it is. BB10 with a keyboard won't be out anytime soon. So, 9930 is probably my only option for now. Sprint's 3G speed is sort of slow end of the spectrum.
Would you recommend buying the 9930?

Add me to the list of folks who plan to ride it out with an OS6 device until early 2013. My 9700 still serves me very well and I can't justify the expense of a 9900 when I see the revolutionary BB10 on the horizon.

I used my discounted pricing for a 4S. I could always sell it and put some money down for the bb10 if good.

I am waiting for the BBX. By the time it comes out, the 9930 Bold should be for free on Sprint, and the wife can get that, and I'll buy an unlocked BBX model, and consider it the last phone I'll buy for a good while.

Me too. I actually rode out my 8100 Pearl for over a year past that contract's time waiting for the 9100 to come to AT&T. Took way too long and once they did get it, it was prohibitively priced (for me, at the time). Waited just a bit longer and the deal came up for a refurbished 9800 Torch for 1 cent. Took the deal, and still on this Torch now. Contract will be up by December. Just in time. I may still wait it out until next January or February to see how the new BB10 devices shake out.

My contract was up in November of last year, and I was going to get the 9900, but I was afraid of the bricking issue, so I got an iPhone 4S. This thing....I've had it since Nov, and let's just say that although my contract won't be over until November 2013, I see myself getting a BB10 device in the fall.

That was my intention - wait until the fall to evaluate the new iPhone and whatever RIM releases. I then dropped my 9650 into some water and ruined it. I've been due for an upgrade since Feb. but I decided to purchase an iPhone 4S off contract because I still wanted to have the upgrade option come fall. I'll just ebay my iPhone as they hold their value really well.
I'm not sure what I'll buy but I am pretty heavily invested into the Apple ecosystem at this point (2 household iPads, 2 iphones and 4 iPod touches) BB10 will really have to knock my socks off to bring me back.
I've used a blackberry device since 2007 and up until about late 2010 I loved them. I hadn't been enjoying the experience much when I broke my 9650 so I made the switch to an iPhone. I'm enjoying it but I figured since i could afford it, i would buy off contract and give RIM one more shot at my business in the fall. As i noted, I'm not likely to switch back but I wanted to save my upgrade to have the option. - 05-02-2012, 03:48 PM #39
think i'm going to start saving now, and buy one outright when it comes out.
i believe that the post yesterday said that current PB's will be get a bb10 os upgrade following os2.1, so if that pans out, that will help seal the deal.
really impressed so far with what i have seen and read. i wont mind one bit if the new phone looks like the Dev Alpha. i like the pb, and wouldnt mind a mini pb to make calls on.

Not really, but timing for me on this is perfect. My next full upgrade eligibility will be this coming November :-)
Now that I have been using 9810, I know what I will wait for BB10 with physical keypad. All my previous BBs were all physical keypad style until this recent 9810. I use my BB mostly for messaging purpose. PB takes up anything I need that requires larger screen estate.

Bought an SGS II to try out Android and hold me over until my contract comes due 3/13. By then I hope BB10 will have been out and a device with a keyboard released. Then I can decide which direction to go.

I have a very reliable 9700 but feel its time to upgrade. I'm with O2 but they want to tie me in to another 2 year contract for a 9790. I would love one but due to BB 10 coming soon I believe that a new 2 year contract would be foolish. RIM could look at speaking to service providers and get them to do short term contracts on the BB7 range. This would be a good thing for BB fans keeping them interested prior to the release of BB10, and hopefully entice a few new customers. RIM you have stock to move make some fantastic deals to keep customers and even tie this in with upgrades to BB10. Use the stock of BB7 devices to get some new fans.

My bold 9700 is giving me a few problems and I must admit, I was at a point where I didn't know what I would be getting, be it bb10, iPhone or Android. But I knew I would wait and give rim a chance; I have faith in them and love their products, and boy I was not let down with the keynote! It's all good getting an iPhone, solid reliable product with good apps, but I want the innovation and positive thinking rim provides.

My contract expired last fall and the full touchscreen BB7 device available was very much a disappointment (namely the Torch 9860) and there was no way in h**l I was going to sign even a two year contract for it, never mind going for a full 3 years. I was hoping to eBay for a BB7 device to tide me over until the release of BB10 BUT the prices were and are quite unsatisfactory, still. I'll just have to hold on to my ailing Pearl 9100 for at least a while yet...

You laugh at me because I'm different. I laugh at you because you're all the same!
