    I want to use bedside mode without wireless connections...

    I use the BlackBerry gateway to play music, but this is a wireless connection so gets turned off in the above mode..

    So.. why not customise what actually gets turned on/off in bedside mode more than just general wireless + phone calls option?

    You could make an NFC smart trigger as shown below, then all you need is a little NFC tag on your bedside table.
