!!Ability to run BB10 L-series apps on the Playbook like iPhone apps on the iPad!!
Hey Guys,
This post would be better placed in the Blackberry 10 Playbook forum, but for some reason it doesn't exist on crackberry.
I was playing around with my girlfriend's iPad today and I clicked an app, she had an iPhone app on it. It wasn't optimized for the larger screen on the iPad so it was the size of the iPhone screen about 4 inches and leaving the rest around it black. Also, there was a 2x button on the bottom right that when clicked zoomed into the app and made it twice as big. Albeit it was slightly blurry and the text was huge.
I was thinking for BB10, will the Playbook have the same ability as the iPad? The ability to run BB10 l-series apps like this playbookl-series app.jpg and then have a zoom to fit the screen to a certain point if you want. playbookl-series app2.jpg
I think this would increase the number of apps on the playbook as well and allow for a better app ecosystem between the two devices. What do you guys think?

When PlayBook gets BlackBerry10 the apps will come with the OS.
No need for something like this IMO.

its not the size of the screen really its the resolution. The l series phone has a higher resolution screen than the PB so the apps written for the phone actually will have to be scaled down for the PB. Either way the apps for the l series should run in the PB just as apps run in the PB currently without a border

Uhh.. assuming developers followed the guidelines as noted by RIM, this will not even be needed. They'll run as if there was no difference. The only ones that won't work will be the lazy abandonware apps that devs just threw together to get a PlayBook, though there is enough of those in there. (What? You know it's true. :P)
Excuse me, I'm making perfect sense. You're just not keeping up.

Ahhh, I see what you mean on the developer blog. Although, even though the apps are the same apps as the l-series, they will resize. As @howarmat said the resolution will be lower, according to BlackBerry 10 Aspect Ratios - Here's How They'll Look - N4BB the aspect ratio for the BB10 is 16:9 and the playbook's aspect ratio is also 16:9 which will be perfect for sizing compared to each other. Although, what @Bla1ze said is true, the stupid apps are not going to render and really who cares about them anyway. i just loaded a BB10 app into my playbook and its rendering is terrible. But i guess BB10 on playbook will help optimize it because it has partially to do with the libraries and how they run it.
Currently all the apps on the bb10 blackberry world that are ported playbook apps have some problems. My one fav app from playbook is Fantasy Islands and the text on the dev alpha is so small it is a little annoying. But I don't think that can be fixed by RIM, the devs need to do that.
