I upgraded from a 9800 to the 9860 last year I love this phone, but I miss the the keyboard. I do more typing then I thought with texts, BBm, and long emails wich get annoying at times with the touchscreen...the bold been looking real tempting lately but the BB10 looks promising, should I wait?

As far as I know, BB10 devices will be pure touch screen devices, which means that they have no physical keyboards.

Currently I'm using a Bold 9900, which is an upgrade from my previous Desire Z.

Personally I would suggest you to get the 9900 now because I'm dead sure that there are bound to have some bugs and issues with the first generation BB10 devices. By the time you're ready to change your phone, the BB10 SHOULD be stable enough.

Based on your usage/needs and this being the best keyboard I've seen, I say go for 9900 and you won't regret it.

if it was me, i'd wait a while first. Since you're already on a 9860. If your really love keyboard, the BB10 phone with physical keyboard is still pretty far away. probably after the full touch one comes out. But since you went fo the bigger touch screen i assume screen size is an issue. If you really need something with a keyboard, then 9900. If not, wait a while till at least until Blackberry world in may. See if there are more details about BB10 before you decide on anything. If the full touch BB10 has a wider screen, the keyboard will be wider, thus easier to type on as well. or if you can somehow trade your 9860 to a 9900, why not? if you don't mind the screen size. Then when the first BB10 is out you can decide again.

I was in the same position as you and decided to upgrade to the 9900.

The 9900 is awesome for productivity and the tasks you mentioned.

I''ll say get the 9900 as nobody knows exactly what the BB10 devices will offer. And there's usually problems with the first batch, so it'll be a good idea to wait for it to stabilise.

I always buy used phones, so I figure it will likely be 1.5 years before I'd be getting a bb10...so bought a 9900, very happy with it.

I DO NOT suggest signing a long (2 year) contract on a 9900 purchase if you do buy one. Not right now. I don't know for sure what RIM or anyone else has coming but in just a year there will surely be a better device choices with at least one great QWERTY keyboard.

Get a 9900 without a 2 year contract because in about a year from now, we will see a bold with BB10 but right now what every phones they have coming this year will all have touch screens, I'm 90% sure
This is the best thing RIM can do now to compete with Apple and Android, so I don't blame them. But this also means that development on the bold BB10 will be pushed back to next year and by then I'm sure everyone with a 9900 will want to upgrade.
Hoping that the battery life will be better. *crosses fingers*

I just swapped from the 9810 to the 9900 because of the keyboard and build quality of the bold. I really hope RIM doesn't abandon the full qwerty physical, that's what defines them and why a lot of us are still using BB. I hate with a passion typing on touchscreen, but I do like having a touch screen for web media etc, so the bold is definatly the best of both worlds!

Ii am in the similar situation. I've been using the 9700 for years, until I broke it. I tried out the iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, but didn't like it much. Went to a local ATT store and tried out the 9900. Love it. It has the touch screen for quick navigation; I can type twice as fast as the other two phones. So, I placed my order on att.com for 1 cents on a refurbished Bold 9900. Yes, 1 cents :-)
Should I buy insurance for it?
