I was trying to drop a .nomedia file into the whatsapp picture folder to stop those from appearing in the pictures app... but it doesn't seem to have any effect. Any ideas what's the problem?

Probably have to reboot (to force reindexing)

.nomedia works for me on PassportSQW100-1/10.3.0.1418. Try moving the folder to reindex it.

Various ways, mostly through making a blank file on the computer that the phone is connected to. Unix-likes have good old

    touch .nomedia

but Windows requires the less elegant command

    type NUL > .nomedia

Or, sideload this app and do it from your phone: https://github.com/thurask/nomedia/r...ia-1_0_0_1.bar

I use Docs To Go and Super File Manager ( http://appworld.blackberry.com/webst...ntent/20079009 )
. In Docs To Go, I create an empty text file. After saving the file, I open Super File Manager and rename the file to ".nomedia", and it works.

I think I figured it out. When I added the .nomedia file it must have stopped also indexing the pictures there. So it never removes them from the existing index either. Strange.

Thurask, thank you. For some reason every type of text file I tried to create in Win 8.1, the pictures app still indexed the pics in my Documents folder. Your app worked great though.
