A lot of the Torch devices were made in Canada as well as some Bold 9000s and 9700s. Judging from what it SEEMS like here's my hypothesis; RIM gets the components from whoever they need to get (eg. CPU from TI for example, flash memory from SanDisk etc.) and it's assembled in Canada. These units are typically prototype units I would assume. Once they are done the prototype they create a batch or two and those would have the "Made in Canada" label. Once they hit the shelves RIM revamps production in the Hungarian and Mexican manufacturing plants. This hypothesis can explain why the majority of BlackBerry smartphones are made in Mexico or Hungary but at the same time obviously I don't work for RIM so I don't know all the details but this is just based on what I think might be going on. Also I've seen a real Taiwanese made BlackBerry Curve 8520 (Yes it's real because I know it works with BIS and BBM etc) but what I find super odd is that the only product I know for a fact from Taiwan that has the RIM logo is the BlackBerry PlayBook. There is a relatively new facility they have in Malaysia which some Bold 9790's are assembled at (Makes sense given this is a newer facility and the 9790 is a BlackBerry 7 device so the timing fits well and is logical).
