SIM not recognized?
Mine won't recognize the SIM card. It seems inserted correctly in the tray, and the tray inserted like in the instructions.
Is there something you have to do to activate the card with AT&T? - 05-04-2012, 01:54 AM #2
The AT&T sim you got from Jam right? It just works out of the box.

There was a paper given out with the box stating you might have to power off/on to get the SIM to be recognized.

SIM Not detected
I have followed the instructions mentioned in the white sheet of paper with the AlphaDev unit and also tried the suggestions above, but still the SIM is not detected on the unit. BB alphadev resources website does not give any method for resolution either. Anyone have any other ideas to fix this?

Did the SIM never work? At Jam they had really helpful technical assistance on site. Would have been a good idea to take it to them as soon as you noticed a problem. Unless you just now set up the device for the first time. Seems like you may have a bad SIM.
By chance did you first insert the tray backwards? That is said to damage the connections which could be causing the problem.
The email for Dev Alpha hardware problems is: btsbetasupport@rim.com
Might tell them what is going on and see what they say. Good luckLast edited by berryboba; 05-06-2012 at 12:34 PM.

My issue is a tad different. My SIM works. The 4G runs great. But I don't have a phone number listed. It was originally blank until I typed a faux number in. But basically mine is locked out for some reason. Card is fine. Install was a breeze. I contacted support via email to see if they can't smooth it out.

Rezn, I contacted support via email, received an automated reply and have yet to hear a word.
I have the same issue. No phone number listed and AT&T shows up as being available sometimes but I have only have it working once... What does your serial number start with?
Sometimes I even get the exclamation mark by the SIM after boot.
Now, that said, I have full access to a second Dev Alpha that none of these issues. Serial starts with 0301- instead of 0302-, phone number was displayed under the SIM right from the start and it NEVER displays the exclamation mark. It also have never locked up after a swipe to resume then an orientation change. World of difference between them. - 06-28-2012, 04:48 PM #10
Is there any way to activate BB dev alpha without internet? It can't connet co my wi-fi network(logs says
"Disconnect event - remove keys")). And i don't have a sim card.
So i can't use it at all. May be anything to skip activation or smth else? - 07-15-2012, 10:51 AM #13

Maybe I'm talking non-sense but...
Everytime I reload the OS with the SIM card inside, the SIM card is detected. Someone else has experienced this?
Note: I've only tried with my old (2+ years deactivated) T-Mobile SIM card. I'm even able to see the SIM contacts.
