[Request] Dev Alpha vs PlayBook Browser Fight!
I'm surprised no one has done this yet... or if so hasn't published the results.
I'm curious to see a head-to-head browser speedtest, and to a lesser degree scrolling performance (checkerboarding), and pinch to zoom.
I know the dev alpha CPU isn't what we're going to see in the first BB10 phone, but we have plenty of time to kill before then.
Cheers! (and someone setup the fight). - 05-08-2012, 03:02 PM #2
Here you go, HTML5 test and speed test.
Both tests were run with the devices sitting side by side on the same WiFi network.

Thanks SCrid2000 (very much!)
I may have not been clear, could you also perform a load time test of crackberry.com (full website) with the development alpha and the playbook in a head to head test?
I'm curious how it compares.Last edited by q649; 05-08-2012 at 04:41 PM.

The speed test should be equivalent to a webpage test.
My guess is the DA would be milliseconds faster. - 05-08-2012, 05:22 PM #5

Yeah, and I've deleted the extra languages too. Good to know you have a higher html5 result

they did mention at the BB 10 Jam sessions that the BB 10 devices have secretly been popping up on the html5 top 10 scores for a while prior even to the BB10 jam event.. they said no one noticed hahhaha

Re: [Request] Dev Alpha vs PlayBook Browser Fight!
Thought I'd resurrect this thread.
Calling out to Crackberry! Let's see a browser comparison between the Dev Alpha B and the PlayBook. HTML5 and sunspider scores are nice, but they don't always relate to the browser experience (scrolling speed, checkerboarding, etc).
It appears that the Dev Alpha B is the final hardware, so let's see a video comparison of the two (please and thank you). - 10-21-2012, 06:15 PM #18
Re: [Request] Dev Alpha vs PlayBook Browser Fight!
Dev Alpha's browser just knocks Playbook out of the park right now.
From html5test.com:

Re: [Request] Dev Alpha vs PlayBook Browser Fight!
Thanks Xsacha,
But as my previous post says, I'm more interested in real-life usability (load speed, scrolling, zooming, checkerboarding, etc). - 11-04-2012, 10:06 PM #22

Re: [Request] Dev Alpha vs PlayBook Browser Fight!
The test results look great and all but as others above have mentioned it doesn't tell the whole story. The playbooks HTML 5 scores are superior then apple yet the Ipad is faster at loading webpages and rendering. That's what we want to see, an actual real world comparison of the browser. I'm personally more interested in the dev alhpa B since that's closer to final hardware.
