I am pleasantly surprised the pictures did not become washed out when facing near the sun. The first one you can see the rays coming in from the right of the picture and it still came out pretty good.

Definitely. Do we know for sure that the camera is final hardware?

Cool, just curious. It just seems like a feature they could have easily ignored for the developers phones. Really no point in putting in the nice stuff right away. Here's hopin, I guess

Here are a couple more. First two are images of text from an old RIM training manual. Black Text on white, and White text on grey. The second set of images is actually Jupiter last night. The image in my telescope was much clearer, but if you look at the full size pictures (taken THROUGH the lense of the telescope with my Dev Alpha) you can see bright Jupiter, and two small moons down and to the left.

I have no idea how it compares, and don't care that much because I'm not planning to pick between devices based on their cameras. I just took it because it looked nice, and posted it for others to enjoy if they choose to.
(The thread's title was "A Few Pictures from a Dev Alpha", not "Is BB10 camera better than an iPhone's?" Sorry if I don't feel like comparisons today.)
By the way, to answer one question above, I think we're pretty certain that the camera on the Dev Alpha is NOT the final hardware. If nothing else, the flash doesn't work, and they had to disable the code around that just to keep us from locking up our devices so often. Presumably the fact it's that different means it may be entirely unrepresentative of the real thing. No idea about the DA B though.Battery Guru for BB10 tracks voltage, power, battery health.
