Blackberry posted an official update on dev alpha C status.

They've stated that all eligible applications should be reviewed by Feb 28 with dev alphas sent out within 5-7 weeks. Not great news, but news none the less.

I'm a little confused by this. 5-7 weeks. Why even send out "Dev Alphas", why not send out devs the full Q10 at that point?

Only reason I can think of is BlackBerry wants to make sure devs keep it for developing instead of selling their units.

wouldnt 5-7 weeks be about the time the q10 should be on store shelves? That is April to just get dev devices out then i doubt we see the q10 on the shelves later that month

    Agreed, the timing is worrying.

Or if it is on the shelves, app world is going to be extremely sparse...

that article is dated feb-02-2013................. so that from first week of march to 3rd week of march. for them getting their dev c

still keeping to their April timeline ...methinks

Let's hope the BlackBerry app review backlog has cleared up some by then. Because with app approvals (even for updates to already approved apps) taking weeks now, it doesn't leave devs much time to submit apps in time for an April device launch.

dev alphas require no network compliance and i dont think fcc paperwork either as they fall into the prototype bracket. this means BB can send them whereever they want without any worries.

that could be why i guess

I believe its because they were already built. That and so they don't sell em, like the other poster stated

Wondering if any of the developers present at BB Jam Europe heard something yet. I know I haven't.

I can agree, when they gave out free playbook to Devs, The market was flooded with Playbook Unit.
