    If there are no custom ROMs, this is no question...

    But if the devices *would* be rootable then there probably would be custom ROMs. And if there are custom ROMs, they could have nice features or maybe do something better then the original stock ROM... just like with Android...

    ROM is ROM, RAM is RAM, EPROM is EPROM, EEPROM is EEPROM, NVRAM is NVRAM, OS is OS

    The only item here which is software - is OS

    If you want to use a custom ROM, you need to take out the chip from the device, and solder a new one in place

    Closest thing to a custom rom is a hybrid os. this thread can be closed down at any time there mods.
