Anyone with a BlackBerry 10 device and a PlayBook willing to do a quick test?

With BlackBerry Bridge on BlackBerry OS7 I used to be able to connect to my PlayStation or my PC and use the phone as a mouse. This is no longer possible with the BlackBerry 10 version, because the Remote Control tab is disabled unless you pair your phone to a PlayBook tablet first. The problem is I no longer have a working PlayBook tablet so I can test if adding a tablet and then disconnecting it will disable the Remote Control tab.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to test this. Is it also grey if the tablet is still added in BlackBerry Bridge, but not connected via Bluetooth? Or will it disappear from Bridge as soon as you kill the Bluetooth connection?

No, as long as the tablet is added you can access the screen. I can say that for sure because I'm at the office and my playbook is at home, and I was able to access the remote control screen until I deleted it to test that for you. Not sure if it would have done anything or not though.. no other bluetooth devices to test it with.

Have you seen the Blue TouchPad app? You can use your bb10 as a bluetooth touchpad and keyboard...

Even better, and it's only a buck! Plus you get to support a native dev! Sounds like a win win..

Now if only I could find an app that would let me control my wdtv live over wifi..

Have you tried the Android app? You can install it via Snap if you are on 10.2.1.

Yes, but with Blue Touchpad you don't need to install anything on the computer/tablet/smartphone. It works like a Bluetooth mouse. Just pair the devices and you are good to go. You should try it. It's exactly what BlackBerry Bridge used to do on legacy devices.

The android wdtv app? Yes I've tried it.. it can't find any devices in my network.. .:dont know:.

There's also a native app in BlackBerry World but it only works if you have third party wdlxtv firmware on the media player and I can't seem to find that firmware anywhere.. they have a wiki but the links just go in circles.
