That's a good question. I'm not sure if you can transfer those to a PC and do it that way or not. Hopefully someone will have an answer for you.

I've read somewhere that messages can't be transferred. I tried transferring from my old BlackBerry to the z10, i got the file now in my phone but no way to read it or to get whatsapp to open it

however it might not work? however a similar transfer is also available for iphone to android so i don't see why it is impossible.
i think you have to do it prior to installing whatsapp though?
