I can get alerts from the weather channel as I've signed up for them. I would assume Usa today would operate the same way. When you get there app, it could set it up to send alerts whether you have their app open or not. Beweather dosen't have a web site that I've found to set up alerts, therefore I don't understand how they can send alerts without something running.

I understand the tech. Beweather dosen't push alerts either from the website or closed application. I'm sure as they did with bebuzz, they will update beweather also.

But active window needs to be open. Headless app do not have to have windows open to push content

I missed Weather Bug from the OS7 days, so i downloaded the Android version.... and to my surprise, it works headless. Without being open, it can report current conditions in the Hub as well as give weather alerts.

Which one did you get or is it different than one of these? Because I grabbed the first one and it doesn't run headless unless there is a setting hidden somewhere that I need to change

I got it from 1 mobile market... i assume it's the same version though. It's the first one on your screen shot ; you do have to go into the preferences in the app and choose what types of notifications you'd like to receive.

I was curious to see if the if the severe weather alerts work headless, and they have for me. Without the app being open, i received a wind advisory yesterday and sadly i woke up to a winter weather advisory in my Hub this morning (isn't it supposed to be spring???).

I have the preferences set but still not headless.

What I mean by "headless" is that the current temp is shown on the icon without having to open.

Is your app doing that because mine isn't.

It's a cool app though.

This was my favorite weather app and I have paid copies both on Android and IOS. I am using BeWeather pro which is a very good weather app for OS10.


It really pissed me off when they decided to drop support for BlackBerry. Allot of the app developers forget it was BlackBerry users who made them what they are today. Oh well.

It's great now that it's working for me again. It hadn't worked since it went headless for me until I loaded this last leak.

But yes now it's awesome

I have to admit my eyes are OLDER but I can read without glasses but the tiny fonts he uses are very difficult to read.
