Panic city when I couldn't find my phone in my apartment... it's not that big, but I couldn't find it!

I turned to BlackBerry Protect and had it make a sound on my phone. Somehow it had fallen behind the couch! (I think my son might have chucked it back there when I took away his iPhone (yes, I know, I should have thrown it out! ) Both phones were together, so he's my prime suspect. But, BlackBerry Protect is my hero for the day.

It makes a loud screaching kind of sound. No way you could miss it. I did have a hard time turning it off, but eventually I got it off... and now I have my beloved Z10 again.

Nice I didn't know it had that feature, how do you activate?
I'm sure I can Google it, but I want to keep this thread going.

It's already activated, but you have to enable location services for it to be able to show the location of your phone.

Settings>>BlackBerry Protect (and make sure location is on)

Then when the time comes... Go to protect.blackberry.com and login with your BBID and password.

As long as the device is on and has some sort of connectivity, it can make it sound, show you its location, show a message on the screen, lock it or wipe it.

Oh... and to turn the loud noise it makes once you find it, just press the volume down key.

I bookmarked http://protect.blackberry.com on my laptop so I don't have to remember or go searching for the website to find my device.

Very useful feature. Now, if only BlackBerry would allow this feature to also back up all our contacts in the cloud.

The Blackberry Protect option should be in BlackBerry Link in my opinion! So everyone knows that there is an option like this and its easy to find in case rather than searching for it in the internet.

Found my wife's Z10 after she dropped it walking the dog. A very nice old gentleman found it and picked it up. Protect found it at his house which was about 2 km from our house to within 5 metres. Very valuable for times like that.

    Ouch.

Like, where do you leave it? Car, living room, under the bed, at a friend's, on the bus, in the park?
