Hey, why are you so against android ports ? It�s better to have an android port then have nothing!
Some of them are working realy good!!
Skype is not the finall version, so fahr it�s a good port exept the video calls. They are not working for me

Working here as well. Unfortunately it's not much different from the sideloaded version, it could really use a separate pane in the Hub, and a Skype icon on the lockscreen when a notification comes in.

There is always a risk of developers becoming 'lazy', rather than developing BB apps, they just port it over. Would much rather have BB developed apps. Also, some ports are poor, to say the least.

Skype alerts do show in the HUB, though no individual Icon, like Whatsapp or BBM.

Can't believe the hype then on BBworld with there soon available, it's no better then the side loaded one from what I read here, personally I don't use it but I can understand people disappointed with it

Got it! I'm running lbfe's .1762, works just fine. I made sure to uninstall the side-loaded Skype via DDPB first. (I don't trust just deleting side-loads).

This thread is really interesting... not regarding Skype cause I already sideloaded it and it had been working fine. The interesting thing is that 10.1 OTA must be available really soon since they made Skype available for Z10!

10.1 has definitely brought some significant improvements to the runtime, if the leaks are any indication. Android apps tend to be quicker and smoother in general. Still not as good as native, unfortunately, but you can tell BlackBerry is working to make it better.

If it's still showing as 'coming soon' on your Appworld, here is a work around to download it.
Visit Appworld via your PC browser, log in with your blackberryID, then search for Skype, now start the download from your PC browser, and it will automatically starts downloading on your device. This method worked for me.

I highly doubt a native app is around the corner. The fact they made effort to have skype contacts in contact cards should be a hint this is here to stay for awhile. Also, if a native app was around the corner then why wasn't this skype preview released much earlier?

Video messages are NOT video chats. Video messages is like voice mails.

Just clarifying because there was some confusion on this before, and no, I don't know how much it would be after. I personally won't think I would use up all 20 least even 1 up.
