I just got a letter in the mail from RBC saying that as of August 2015, they were discontinuing mobile payments for my device and this feature would only be available on their Android app.

I wonder if the Android app will work on your BlackBerry for mobile payments?

As much as I would prefer native BlackBerry apps I do understand the savings that come from supporting and developing one fewer version of an app. Android support isn't perfect but pretty darn good. Gets the job done for me anyway.

It says Android devices with 4.4.X or higher, so KitKat I believe that is. I have no idea what the runtime in my Passport is at now.

RBC sucks anyways! I worked there as a mortgage broker for a bit, went thru all their training. I was told to charge the posted rate for mortgages first. If the client was a first time home buyer, they didnt know any better. If the experienced client complained, I was allowed to reduce the rate accordingly. I didnt see eye to eye with the way they treated their customers and left the company that very day! I recommend using a mortgage broker that has access to everyones products! You are not limited to one institutions products only!

Why would the 2 versions have different features?

Because BlackBerry isn't supported anymore so their app wasn't updated

Largest Candian bank has a problem supporting another large Canadian company? Awesome, maybe it is time to change banks.

Rogers' Suretap Wallet will probably replace most NFC wallets. It already made it way to Bell.

CIBC has a mobile payments NFC app on BB10 that will install on Z30, but not Q5.

I've never tried NFC. Do you like it?

BMO is bigger than RBC, and yes, they still support BlackBerry.

Look how long it took RBC to release a BB10 app. All other banks had released their apps and RBC was one of the last to provide its customers with BB devices an app.

So who knows, maybe that feature and other ones that are already on iOS and Android will come to BB10.

    Cheers

They only introduced that feature to select Service providers. I think only Bell/Virgin only. Its not available to Telus. So as long as they're not removing support for the RBC App, I am good

That's it. The letter I received was specifically for the mobile payment feature. It did not mention the RBC app.
