Since there was a blog post there were a lot of unanswered questions. From me using the GPS in the U.s. (i'm from canada as you will see in the pictures below)

Is it offline?
- This is 100% offline you can turn off your mobile network and it will still work

If you want traffic data then yes you need a connection and it WILL use data. But as you see in my 4th picture it 100% works without data for regular GPSing

How do they make money?
no idea, even in the upgrade spot everything is free

Where do they get their maps from?
- open street maps

Where does the maps download to?
- Only phone storage so far but SD card support is coming

I have downloaded this on my Q10. I can see all of the directions etc. Despite everything on except walking mode, still no sound for voice guidance or camera alert. Any ideas??

Im not sure, it works for me in canada. Make sure the volume symbol on the top left isnt on mute like in my second picture.
