just an update on this - has anyone got the latest version to work now we are in the days of 10.2.1 and android apk's running directly, I was hoping it would be better. Unfortunately I've found the latest plex (with chromecast support) is able to browse my servers but cannot play anything - the screen just stays black. Anyone else seeing this? If people can confirm version numbers they have working - my problem is with 3.2.4.87, indeed any since chromecast support was announced. Which doesn't work either btw

Plex works mostly for me on my Z10. But it does show an error when I launch. It says "unfortunately, C2DM has stopped". Not sure what it means, but after tapping ok it seems to work ok.

I get that from a lot of android apps, doesn't stop much functionality luckily!

whenver i try and play a vid, it just stays black. may I ask if you have any particular video settings e.g. transcoder, bandwidth selected etc.?

yes latest version on the server (in my case a free bsd linux box and a mac and a pc - ive tried all 3 ) I'm still on a leaked 10.2.1. how about you? Nothing I try works. older versions of plex still work, but nothing with the official chromecast lackofsupport

Damn. Then I can only presume there is something very specific about my setup that prevents this working. Even more annoying now I know it works for others. Or is it less because at least there is some hope it might work for me? naaaaaa... Annoyed

not taking pleasure in your misfortune but thats good to hear from my perspective . I wonder if I may ask - what os version are you using and what phone is it? I have a q10 with 10.2.1.2141? as far as other android apps, i experienced this issue with none other than plex on a fresh wipe, so I don't think its related to what droid (or even blackberry) apps are installed - it was literally the first thing I put on it

I am on a Z10 w 10.2.1.1925.

I may have fixed it by uninstalling, and reinstalling (only to be sure I start fresh), then toggling off the "Use New Transcoder" feature.

This seems to make all my files playable, though it is a bit sluggish. Not sure if it is because I was not connected to a wi-fi server.

Try it and let me know how that goes for you.

Hi I just tried that but unfortunately it's no different. I think the proble is the built in android video player functionality doesn't work. If I set it to use an external player it will work, but there are trade offs e.g. won't play a lot of files, and doesn't mark files as viewed

Works for me. Just bought through Amazon App Store as it is on for a buck.

Won't list my Chromecast though. Odd.
