Network connection issue with Uber mobile page and Ober.
- Is anyone else experiencing network connection issues with the Uber mobile page and Ober?
Here in Mexico City, I got this problem both with the mobile page and with Ober. It's unfortunate, as both were working fine a few days ago.
I've contacted Uber and they've said nothing is wrong with my account. Curiously, only BlackBerry devices seem to be affected. My Passport can't connect to Ober or to the mobile page; my backup 9800 Torch and my gf's Q10 can't connect to the mobile page either.
I'm sure it's not a problem with Ober, as the mobile page has the same error. It's definitely on Uber's side, but they're not acknowledging it. At first, I thought it was a carrier's issue, but now I'm seeing people elsewhere reporting this issue.
I can't help but to think it could be a boicot against BB10...

The message reads: "We've had a problem accessing the network. Verify your connection or try again in a few minutes" and "Error - Connection Error - Accept".
I've only noticed this issue since Sunday. Last week I ordered an Uber car with Ober with no issues at all. The mobile page is having the same problem using BlackBerry's browser, so I think it's not the app's problem.
I've also reported it to Uber, but didn't get a satisfactory response. Hope you have better luck, bro.
Thanks again and keep up the good work!
Posted with my powerful and masterful Passport!12-01-15 10:28 AMLike 0 - Update:
I'm still not being able to connect either through m.uber.com or with Ober. All internet connections on my Passport work fine, and I've just updated to 10.3.2 through Sachesi, yet Uber still cannot detect my connection.
I have also tried the Google Play Services work around with patched apps provided in another thread. Google Maps and Uber only detect my location when I'm at home, with both Wi-Fi and mobile network. Once at work, however, it doesn't locate me.
I'm at a loss here. I have contacted Uber support multiple times, they always answer that my "account has no restrictions and is ready for use", but they're of no more help than to give standard superficial responses.
I've posted on their Facebook page and only received an answer asking to contact them through email. I've mentioned all these facts in the service survey they sent this morning and told them I'll cease using Uber's service.
In all honesty, I don't know what to think anymore. I've seen a few posts elsewhere mentioning the same issue, but there's no official statement from Uber. Even Nemory has received reports of the problem.
I'm sure it's not an Ober app's issue, it is something to do with Uber's mobile page configuration. Whether this only affects BlackBerry 10 devices is unknown to me, but it sure seems like it could be some sort of boycott...
@Nemory: If I can no longer use Uber, I would have no use for Ober. I'm committed to supporting BB10 developers, so what would your suggestion be? Is it possible to switch the payment for another of your apps and cancel Ober linked to my BlackBerry ID?
I'll give it another week though and post if anything changes. Please also let me know if you figure out a solution. Cheers bro!
Posted with my powerful and masterful Passport!12-04-15 10:43 AMLike 0 - It seems that the Uber guys have really screwed up something - guess there was an upgrade to the mobile web frontend and QA was not doing its job properly...
I was able to get a car on Thursday but since yesterday i cannot see cars nearby nor able to access "Profile" or "Payment" menu entries on m.uber.com. Tests I've done so far - and posted to [email protected] as well:
- BlackBerry 10 browser: no luck, cannot sign in or use the map any more
- Firefox: no luck either
- Chrome: works fine, could log in and cars are showing up
- Stock Android browser / Kindle Silk: works fine, could log in and cars are showing up
So it is definitely not an account related thing and for sure is due to something that was changed on the JS side and eventually broke support of some niche platforms including BB10. Super..12-05-15 12:41 PMLike 0 - Update:

Please keep us updated if you get any more news from Uber, cheers!

In the meantime, I'm currently using the Android patched app with all of Cobalt's GPS workaround. It works ok, although I prefer Ober's native feel.

In the meantime, try the patched Android workaround: http://forums.crackberry.com/android...r-app-1014845/
I hope Uber fixes this issue, as I prefer Ober's native UI.
Posted with my powerful and masterful Passport!12-06-15 04:48 PMLike 0 - I am having the same problem in the UK using the Uber mobile site on a q10. The same on the bb browser and Firefox running via Android. I have had a dialogue with Uber and no solution has come back as yet. The problem is via the mobile network or wi-fi and the mobile site works fine on other devices.12-06-15 06:55 PMLike 0
- I have found by downloading the Chrome browser (used Snap) the Uber mobile site works fine again (as also tested by ghz further up thread). It still doesn't work on the native blackberry browser or Firefox. It will be interesting to see if this works for anyone else.

Back to using Ober, glad I didn't ask for a refund!
I will keep the GPS configuration and the Uber apk, as backups though.

- Mike, situation is the same for me as well. In the meantime I've built a dedicated wrapper for the mobile site that could be used on its own. Have a look at this thread: mUbr - a wrapper for m.uber.com that works.JG_Agustin likes this.12-07-15 02:08 PMLike 1

- To all experiencing an issue. Since I don't experience I cannot experiment. Who wants to participate? If you get this error and want to participate I will make a customized Ober for you to check if it solves it. Please email [email protected] with subject of Ober Beta Tester something like that. Thank you all

Their response is "the engineering team are working hard to resolve it as soon as possible as there seems to be a technical issue ongoing" They are going to follow up with me.
I deleted the shortcut to see if that helped and cleared all my cookies and I can't even log on now.
Using the service in London.
I'll let you know when I hear back from them.
But frustrating with Christmas party season approaching. I had to get a regular cab on Saturday night. It stank of cigarettes, was more expensive and my friend got chewing stuck on her new coat!!!

- I had a note from Uber this morning and the mobile site via the Blackberry browser is back up and running. "Good news! After extensive review, I am happy to confirm that m.uber.com should now be fully functional."
