3.5.0.87 works for thermostats only, not Nest protect....of which I have 3. So all I can do is adjust temperature.

Are you on the latest Nest app? I can see the Protect page on the latest downloaded Nest app. Also, someone I follow on Twitter says they have Protect working on their Z30.
What OS are you on? I'm on 10.2.1.1925 the latest Nest app is much nicer than the original.

4.0.1.6 is the latest Nest app. This one has Protect.

I just added the nest app via Amazon's appstore. Works great!

Nest from amazon works flawlessly, from anywhere. Wifi or cellular. And it runs smoothly. One of the better android apps I have installed actually.

has anyone connected a nest protect without the thermostat using a BB???

Got the nest app through snap. Entered the key, found its ad hoc network manually and connected but the app won't connect to it.

I uninstalled and just reinstalled 3.5.0.87 on my BB10 that has 10.2.1.537...and it does not have Protect. My thermostat is all that shows up.

I'll say this with the risk of sounding very cocky but so be it.
Please don't be offended, it's how it is, and i wish it could be different, but i can't afford it.

Get me a Nest and I'll build you an app for free.

I had been planning to get a Nest thermostat this spring while I'm remodeling the house...but knowing now that they have close ties with Apple and have commented there is nothing in the works for BB10, I'm going to take a closer look at the EcoBee stat...native app in BB World already!
    Actually, Google bought Nest.

After falling to install nest with the Android nest app I've done a lot of searching. Conclusion I have come to is a Z10 can not interact with it through the ad hoc network it uses to set it up. Z30 has a setting for the wifi direct by the info I found that may allow it to succeed where the Z10 fails.

The work around is borrow a phone, tablet, ipod with wifi direct set it up then log in with the app on your phone.

Borrowed step sons ipod and worked like a charm

Why does Nest android app need access to your phone app and location? Gotta love Google.

But besides that works like a charm.

Nest was working well for me on my passport with PassportSQW100-1/10.3.0.1418

BUT now the app no longer has access to the mobile network it appears as it only works on wifi.

    Any suggestions? Thanks folks!

Perhaps it got updated recently? Just got a new Nest and installed the android Nest app on my Passport a few days ago (from Snap. Amazon app store has it too.) works flawlessly for me on any wifi network, or from using my carriers network.

Im on 4G LTE and I adjust my stat as I'm driving in to the office so its nice and toasty when I get there........

Very cool device. I can see why its so popular.

I tried downloading the Amazon app. This is why I dislike Android apps.

Really? Contacts, Camera and Phone for checking/adjusting my thermostat? No thanks

Does the Honeywell ask for the same?

I have a Nest thermostat and two Nest protect smoke and CO2 detectors. The app from Amazon runs great on my Passport, but I can do all the same controls via the browser. When I first got the Nest I used my wife's Kindle for set up.

Having the same problem. Read it's because the android app tries to setup an adhoc wireless network but since the app is a sideloaded android one it cannot do this. Disappointing and embarrassed that I spent $120 for a co2 detector that I now have to borrow someone's iphone to setup.

Anyone getting notifications from Nest Protect on their BB10 phone when there is an issue? Does the app run in the background? Mine doesn't seem to work. I can access the Protect and do everything but no notifications ever come through (mobile or wifi networks)

No notifications. The only ones I'll see is if I open the app. It's crippled like most apps from Google that are used on BB10. That will never change.

With that being said, it works great on the Priv.

I have the Nest app running on a Q5 loaded from 1mobilemarket. I have a thermostat and 2 protect, works fine except for google play services and location (home/away assist) Installed a patched version (from cobalt32) and used his ps_patcher to patch the nest app and reinstalled. It no longer complains about gps but still looks as if location service is not working. Has anyone got this feature working?
