Default Just a suggestion but what if...

Instead of having so many different apps, BB should let it be built in to the actual application itself. One best example are photo filter apps. Instead of having to download and open so many different apps, why not let it be like an in-app purchase where you can buy dif filters from different people instead? I am not sure if such things exist but, to me that would be awesome and will set bb apart from others.

It will be so convenient! Something similar to downloading brushes for photoshop if you get get I mean. Or like, the magazine pp inside bb.

I really dislike having sooo many icons!

would def be innovative.. but thats like trying to walk before you crawl.. bb has to build back credibility and get a smooth OS and get the things that people want right now.. they are playing catch up.. Now, once they catch up, who knows, they can take a few hail mary passes, but right now, they cant take chances

To do that you have to have a built in app that everyone loves. If it is stripped down then what is there to love? Plus what if you have 10 devs all make the same feature? Are they all available for in game purchase?

What about IM app? How are you going to handle this one?

No matter how you look at it, you will have lots of icons. The best way to minimize it is to only purchase one app for thing you need to do. So then you will only have the built in ones and the one you added.

I don't believe this will work at all. There will always be someone that will want the layout, features or something different then what is available. There will also be someone that will think that they can do it better. Don't let them offer it for sale and they will build it for another OS.

I'd like BlackBerry to get rid of the SMS and BBM icons, they're superfluous.

The BBM icon still makes sense, as there's no consolidated list of BBM updates anywhere else, nor groups (and everything else is just nice to have in a separate app IMHO). However, I remember someone on the CrackBerry team (possibly Bla1ze) saying that the SMS icon was demanded by carriers, to encourage users to use SMS (and hence pay for text messaging). The best option would be if they came up with a way of hiding icons like the old BBOS had, in order to give users some choices, but I'm not sure how they'd implement that without any physical buttons. For the time being, you could always create a folder of apps/icons you never use, to narrow them all down to just one icon.

@Flexin, I think such functions would work for certain features e.g. as mentioned, photo editor but not everything of course. And it can also work side by side with full editing apps.

It is just an OCD thing that I do find it annoying to group certain apps together so yes, hope the option of hiding some icons would be available again.

I think it would also be awesome if we can put a title for every page of apps?

As far as I understand, all those features in BBM will be moved onto the Hub. As the moment, I have a folder called 'comms' where those types of apps reside.
I'm surprised carriers wanted an SMS icon, I hardly use SMS.
