I realise I am probably the only one who feels this way, but I honestly don't understand all this paranoia about secrecy. Yes I understand keeping things private but in my ever so humble opinion, the average instant messaging app is sufficiently private for most folk. I am sure your respective country's secret police are not interested in your evening shopping lists, or how much you think your new boss sucks or even those dodgy selfies that you send to your SO during the evenings.

Again, just my humble 5c worth.

    WhatsApp 2+ a day
Threema 3+ a day (but not very popular outside Switzerland)
BBM not in use because there are no other BlackBerry Partners on the other side.

I have 63 contacts on WhatsApp, talk to 20-25 and also have 6 groups, in BBM I have 8 contacts and only talk to 2 of them, so I use WhatsApp a lot, my family, my friends and my girlfriend are in it.

Gee, my local PD owns a Stingray and county has a police drone. Excuse me if I use a little secure comms.

This was just tweeted out by BGR.com WhatsApp privacy: Facebook gets your phone number, other data | BGR

No big surprise Whatsapp will be sharing info from your messages with facebook.... Maybe time to rethink things.
