I just installed the messenger app Chiffry, it is a nice app with all functionalities of whatsapp or bbm, no account needed for the registration, you need only the phone number. A scan function is available in order to check if your contacts have been registred too. A certificat is also included for each user!

Thanks for the heads up...I am guessing chiffry doesn't hand over all your info to facebook either.

Update: just installed it...and I really like it. This is a high quality app with a polished look and feel on par with whatsapp or BBM...and completely cross platform.

A serious alternative for those looking for one.

    Website: Chiffry- Einfach sicher kommunizieren

Although, the English page being mostly in German is strange.

Update 2: I don't often recommend apps, but have forwarded links to chiffry to mu contact list.

In fact, given what is happening with Whatsapp in a few months and the fact that BBM isn't cross platform for bb10 users I would recommend making this thread a sticky so users looking for a quality replacement have somewhere to go.

WoW! is a big news and hope whatsapp won't block it in future.

    ------------

I do hope all famous apps on android/IOS do have a alternative choice in BB10 os.
It could be better when come with hub integrated.

What messengers is this? I install this and it looks like an android app to me.

I didn't see any whatsapp features in it

It's not a replacement or imitation of Whatsapp, it is an alternative to Whatsapp.

And yes, it is an Android port listed in BlackBerry World, just like Skype.

I downloaded it and tried it out but I'm picky and the lack of Hub integration, like a native BB10 app, means Chiffry won't change my messaging habits.
