In OS 10.1 I used to be able to put an address in the location field for an appointment, then touch the field and BlackBerry Maps would open and give me the directions. This stopped working with OS 10.2.1. Any one else experience this?

When editing, it works so you can search a location and save it... Now let me see if it has sth to do with enabeled GPS and permissions of the calendar...

    (edited):
Nope... the "location" services are enabled, the only thing I turned off in the options is accepting Ads...

I'll post a solution when found, I noticed it, too after the update... but never bothered me coz I don't use it.

I'm on 10.2.1, works for me no problem. maybe the location has to already be saved in BB MAPS? that's how I add locations to calendar - or from contact records

I definitely tried everything out that came to my mind. The only thing that works is while editing/eriting a new entry/appointment: You can type on the bar for location so that BB10-Maps opens. In its search form, you can search the exact adress, type on it then it is automatically copied and pasted in the correspondant field of the calendar.
But when you get the notification and you look for the details, you can not type on it to make it open as target destination in the map app... Weird!

I think the OP meant not only to save the location, but also to drive to it when he opens his calendar.

You need to do this to get it to work.

When in location, don't enter the address. Tap the location icon which opens maps search. Then enter address in maps and save. It will then save the location with a blue link to tap on when viewing in calendar.

Worked for me as recently as this past Saturday and Sunday.
When I set the appointment I entered the address in Calendar.
And used the address in Calendar to get there and return by pressing the address in the appointment and it opened in BBMAPS.

    I'm on Q10SQN100-5/10.2.1.2228

I just used it this morning to get to my appointment and this feature worked. I have been using it for a long time and have not noticed any disruption at all even on the 10.3 leak. I usually enter the info on my desktop Outlook application and then sync my devise when I look at my appointments, I see the address in blue in the location. I touch the address in blue, and maps opens up pinpointing the location.

I just tried entering one from my phone directly, and it worked too.

I have not that link... it simply saves the Adress, but no link to tap on... the field is "inactive"! That's why I wanted to look to the permissions and if GPS/locations is turned on!

I'm on 10.2.1, and it works for me whenever the address is formatted properly (needs address, city, state, zip in the U.S., for examply). It will show up in blue as a link for me even if I enter the location via Outlook on my desktop computer and the appointment syncs to my device. So other than making sure the address is in the format BB Maps recognizes, I'm not sure why it won't work for the OP.

@tjseaman and @jem9777 have given you the answer. It works correctly if you enter the address exactly as the map database is looking for it to be entered. Failing that, simply look the address up in the map app.

Really, this makes sense, but it would be more user friendly if tapping on the field opened the map app, even if it didn't know the correct address.

I entered it on the calendar exactly as I would for BlackBerry maps. It just doesn't work in 10.2.1. I can't even copy it to paste somewhere else.

Did not work for me either. I just do not get the link, although I search for the adress using the Calendar to map shortcut.
    I give up.

If you get one little thing (comma, period, whatever) out of place, it won't recognize the address. Hence the need to enter the address via the Maps App.

As long as I follow the correct steps, it works like a champ. Miss one thing and it doesn't link. I'm using Z30STA100-5/10.2.1.2141

First enter any details, such as subject, time, etc. Then tap on the gray location icon at the end of the location field. Tap the icon.

    Calendar and BB Maps-img_20140519_205627.png

After tapping the icon, BlackBerry Maps will open:

    Calendar and BB Maps-img_20140519_205803.png

Enter as much of the address is necessary to get the actual address to appear down below. Then tap on the correct address that is listed below. This will enter the address into the location field back in your calendar app:

    Calendar and BB Maps-img_20140519_205815.png

Now click SAVE in your appointment. This will save your work and return you to the main calendar. Open your appointment to see the blue link:

    Calendar and BB Maps-img_20140519_205826.png

Tapping on the link will open BlackBerry Maps to that address.

    HTH

nice work Niss63! that's exactly how I do it, if not adding address directly via a contact.

As others stated, via Outlook works like a charm for me, too.

one thing which has to fixed, as this IS broken.

Sometimes (in Australia) the described way works. Sometimes it doesn't. It's more than just a nuisance
