[BlackBerry Owner 1]

I was an OS 7 user before switching over to the Z10. With that said, one of my favorite apps on OS 5, 6, and 7 has always been BlackBerry news...it made it easy for me to subscribe to news that I would like to get on my phone, without over subscribing to other sites I didn't want, like most other apps do.

The app worked on the old BlackBerryOS, and on my playbook. I thought I've seen the app for BB10 before, but I am 10.1 and can't seem to find this app anywhere. Is it available, and if not what apps would be a good replacement?

I miss the simplicity of the old News App. There are other ones out there, but a lot of them are crappy ports, or google feed readers. The BlackBerry one was great; it tied to your BBID so you could just get your feeds on whatever device. I was happy to see all my feeds appear on my Playbooks. Well at least that's still working.

I also missed the simplicity of it, and I have somewhat replicated it using Blogtrottr. You'll need a new email account for the feed subscriptions - add it to your BB10 device and switch the account off from showing up in the hub. Give it the name "News Feeds" and sign up for Blogtrottr, which will scan feed subscriptions and send them to your new email address.

I would actually prefer this method to a feeds app, if it didn't mess up the email count on the lock screen. Hopefully BlackBerry eventually allows more notifications options for the lock screen.

This method also allows cross-platform sync of unread articles, as long as that device can sync to your email.

Last we heard the app has been dropped. Pity since I use it a lot on older devices. Love how it can integrate in the unified inbox and BIS. Not a fan of Flipboard since it's kinda inefficient. But have to admit, it does look nice.
